A dramatic late goal from Shaun Hutchinson saw Millwall claim the last remaining League One play-off spot in a thrilling 4-3 victory at Bristol Rovers. As it stood, the Lions had fallen behind Southend United, who were leading 1-0 against Bury, before the 2011 Scottish Cup winner with Motherwell rose highest to head home Shane Ferguson's cross.
Millwall joined Scunthorpe United, Fleetwood Town and Bradford City in the play-offs, with each aiming to claim a place in the Championship next season alongside Sheffield United and Bolton Wanderers.
No team has ever won the third tier play-offs on three occasions, with Barnsley, Huddersfield Town, Peterborough United and Walsall all securing promotion via this route twice. Brentford have had the misfortune of losing in this final three times (1997, 2002 and 2013), while the Bees have also made the most appearances at this stage (seven).
But how do our four candidates shape up ahead of the play-offs, and how have they fared in previous outings?
SCUNTHORPE UNITED
Back at the club where he started his football career, manager Graham Alexander has pedigree in the play-offs having guided Fleetwood to promotion from League Two in 2013/14 via this route. The Iron were the early season pace-setters, but a run of nine games without a win between 4 February and 11 March saw their automatic promotion hopes suffer a huge blow.
The Glanford Park outfit recovered and won seven of their remaining nine fixtures - including their last five - to head into the play-offs as one of the form teams. This is the second time that Scunthorpe have been in the League One play-offs, and they will be hopeful of replicating their 2009 heroics where a late Martyn Woolford goal secured promotion against, of all teams, Millwall at Wembley.
Josh Morris, brought in on a free transfer from Bradford at the start of the campaign, has been a revelation with 20 goals in all competitions, while Paddy Madden and Kevin van Veen have also shone for the Iron.

FLEETWOOD TOWN
The Cod Army continue to march on. After being crowned Conference champions in 2012, Fleetwood secured promotion from League Two in 2014 to maintain their remarkable rise up the football pyramid. The club that brought Jamie Vardy to prominence before his record breaking £1m move to Leicester City are on the verge of making history by sealing their seventh promotion in eleven years.
Uwe Rosler, in his first season with Fleetwood, has unfinished business in the play-offs having lost in the 2013 League One final with Brentford and the 2014 Championship semi-final with Wigan Athletic. Will this prove to be third time lucky for the former Manchester City striker? After suffering seven defeats in their opening 17 games, the Cod Army lost just three of their remaining 29 League One fixtures to record a fourth place finish.
Integral to Fleetwood's promotion push have been David Ball and Ashley Hunter, who have plundered 22 goals between them in the league this season. Amari'i Bell, Bobby Grant and Conor McLaughlin have also played key roles for Rosler, with all three virtually ever present this campaign.

BRADFORD CITY
The Bantams haven't been in England's second tier since suffering relegation in 2004. The Valley Parade outfit also spent six seasons in League Two before securing play-off promotion in a memorable 2012/13 campaign that saw them reach the League Cup final. Bradford lost out to Millwall in last season's play-off semi-final and will be hoping to go one better this time around.
Manager Stuart McCall started his career with Bradford and, after joining Everton, spent seven trophy-laden years north of the border with Rangers before re-joining the Bantams. The Scot also spent three years at the helm at Valley Parade between 2007 and 2010 and is enjoying his first year back at the club after stints with Motherwell and Rangers.
Goals have been relatively equally shared this season for MCall's side, with no player registering double figures in the league despite the club netting 62 times. Jordy Hiwula leads the Bantams' scoring charts with nine League One goals to his name while Billy Clarke is next with seven strikes. Bradford have history at this level having previously won the Division Two play-offs in 1996.

MILLWALL
Neil Harris took permanent charge of Millwall at the start of the 2015/16 campaign following the club's relegation from the Championship. The Lions legend led his side to a fourth place finish in his first season at the helm, only to be thwarted an immediate return to the second tier in the play-off final by Barnsley.
Millwall have registered eight points less than last campaign as they recorded a sixth place finish, aided by a run of 16 games without defeat between 21 December and 21 March and a morale-boosting FA Cup quarter final run where they knocked out three Premier League sides.
Lee Gregory, Steve Morison and Aiden O'Brien have netted 37 of Millwall's 66 league goals this season, while Tony Craig and Byron Webster have provided resilience at the back for Harris' men. This is the Lions' fourth crack at the League One play-offs and won promotion to the Championship via this route in 2010, beating Swindon Town in the final.
